Money supply in Ukraine grows to almost US$44 bln in August

It has grown by 2% since the year's start.

Money supply in Ukraine (an aggregate amount of cash in circulation and non-cash funds on bank accounts of individuals, legal entities and the state, or M3) grew by 0.3% in August, to UAH 1.233 trillion, or US$43.9 billion.

Since the beginning of the year, M3 has increased by 2%, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has said on its website.

Meanwhile, the country's monetary base (an aggregate amount of NBU's liabilities that can be used to create money supply, including cash in circulation and liabilities to credit institutions) also increased by 0.3% in August and by 5.7% since the beginning of the year, to UAH 421.9 billion, or US$15 billion.

UNIAN memo. Ukraine's monetary base grew by 4.6% in 2017, to UAH 399.1 billion (US$14.2 billion), while money supply by 9.5%, to UAH 1.208 trillion (US$42.9 billion). In July 2018, Ukraine's M3 expanded by 1.3%, to UAH 1.229 trillion, while monetary base increased by 0.2%, to UAH 420.6 billion.
