Ukraine is ready to cancel the summer/winter time switches following in the European Union's footsteps, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade reports.
"Ukraine has adopted a policy of European integration, which provides for the implementation of European legislation. Ukraine uses the optimal procedure for calculating time, which is harmonized with the international practice of determining time, facilitating the adaptation of the entire range of international economic, cultural and other relations, being consistent with its geographical location," the ministry told TSN.
The Ministry noted that if the EU decides to abolish the daylight saving clocks change, they will appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the possibility of making appropriate changes in the Procedure for calculating time in the territory of Ukraine, determined by the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 509 of May 13, 1996.

There is no due diligence report in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade for the annual transition to summer time and information on the actual reduction of electricity consumption due to such transition, according to the press service.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 14, European Commissioner Violeta Bulk stated that the European Union would abandon the practice of daylight saving time change as early as October 2019.
