National budget draft for 2019 registered in parliament

Ukraine's draft national budget for 2019 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament.

Bill No. 9000 on the national budget of Ukraine for 2019 was registered on September 15, an announcement on the parliament's website said.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine's government on September 14 approved the draft budget for 2019 and submitted it to parliament.

The document foresees a 3% increase in GDP along with a decrease in public debt to 52.2% of GDP.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman mentioned defense spending, energy independence and energy efficiency among the priorities of the budget. Some UAH 209.5 billion (US$7.46 billion) should be spent on defense. Some UAH 56 billion (US$1.99 billion) will be allocated for the construction of roads next year, while UAH 6.9 billion (US$245.6 million) will be spent on support of agriculture.

Education expenses will amount to UAH 242 billion (US$8.61 billion), while UAH 92.3 billion (US$3.28 billion) will be spent on healthcare. The minimum wage is to grow to UAH 4,173 (US$148.5) per capita per month from January 1, 2019.
