Yield of oilseeds in Ukraine in 2018 may exceed 21 mln tonnes – Expert

The yield of oilseeds in 2018 may total to 21.7 million tonnes, including 15 million tonnes of sunflower seeds.

"The situation with production in the current season is as follows: the gross yield of oilseeds in 2018 is projected at the level of 21.7 million tonnes. If split according to crops, it is the following: 15 million tonnes of sunflower seeds, 4 million tonnes of soybeans, 2.7 million tonnes of rapeseeds," the Ukragroconsult consulting agency's press service quoted its Director General Serhiy Feofilov as saying.

The expert also forecasts that areas under oilseeds will increase by 0.4-1.1 million hectares in Ukraine until 2025.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine harvested 12.2 million tonnes of sunflower seeds and 3.9 million tonnes of soybeans in 2017, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

USDA experts project Ukraine will harvest 13.5 million tonnes of sunflower seeds in 2018.
