The surplus of Ukraine's national budget in January-August 2018 was estimated at UAH 11.798 billion, or US$420 million, which was 70% down from a surplus of UAH 38.470 billion, or $1.369 million, year-over-year (y-o-y).

The surplus of the country's consolidated budget over the period under review was UAH 34.356 billion ($1.2 billion), which was 50% down on the figure of UAH 68.646 billion ($2.4 billion) y-o-y, according to Ukraine's Treasury Service.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the deficit of Ukraine's national budget in 2017 was estimated at UAH 47.850 billion, or $1.7 billion, which was 33.4% down against 2016.
The deficit of Ukraine's national budget for 2018 is capped at UAH 80.6 billion ($2.9 billion), or 2.4% of GDP.
