Kyiv's Podilsky District Court has refused to recognize and execute in Ukraine the decision of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Russian Chamber of Commerce on recovery from Ukrinterenergo in favor of the Russian state-owned company Inter RAO UES a debt of UAH 190 million (US$6.7 million) for the supply of electricity from Russia to the occupied territories in Luhansk and Donetsk regions in 2014-2015.

"The dispute concerns the supply of Russian electricity to the territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions in 2014-2015. The court completely refused to satisfy the motion and ruled that the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise [Ukrinterenergo] is not obliged to pay UAH 190 million in favor of the Russian monopolist," senior partner at the Ilyashev and Partners law firm Roman Marchenko said on September 27, according to the website of the firm, which represents the interests of Ukrinterenergo in court.

"We were convinced of the impeccability of Ukrinterenergo's legal position in this case, and we are happy with the fair and unbiased resolution of the dispute," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 13, 2015, Ukraine stopped imports of Russian electricity due to the completion of the repair works at power unit No. 3 of Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Ukraine's Rivne region and its connection to the country's power grid.
