The share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation in Ukraine is 1.8% and is to grow to 11% by 2020.
Ukraine's total renewable energy capacity as of the end of September 2018 was 1.804 GW, which was 36.7% up year-over-year, according to National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC).
Renewable energy sources for electricity generation in Ukraine are solar power plants, wind parks, mini hydropower plants, and biofuel power plants, which sell their electricity at feed-in tariffs.
New facilities whose capacity is 106.1 MW were commissioned in the third quarter of 2018, which was 2.4 times up on the same period of 2017, it said.

Solar power plants and wind farms accounted for 97% of the new facilities, the average capacity per commissioned unit was 2.8 MW.
Kherson region was traditionally in the lead in terms of commissioned renewables facilities in the third quarter with 60.5 MW.
Currently, the share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation in Ukraine is 1.8%, yet its share in costs is 8.3%.
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine in 2017 launched 257 MW in new renewable energy capacity. On October 1, 2014, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy until 2020, which provides for an increase in the share of renewable energy sources in the total electricity generation balance from about 1% to 11%.
