The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has required information from the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police regarding open criminal proceedings against Iryna Knyazeva, head of the board of the Russian Sberbank's Ukrainian-based subsidiary, as well as demanded explanation from Sberbank about the withdrawal of $15 million back in 2014.

The regulator is also considering the possibility of dismissing Knyazeva over her compromised business reputation, according to NBU Deputy Governor Kateryna Rozhkova's response letter to the appeal by leader of the National Corps Political Party Andryi Biletsky, published by investigative journalist Anton Hryniov.

In particular, Rozhkova says the National Bank appealed to the SBU and the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky district to inform the regulator about the pre-trial investigation regarding Knyazeva and her deputy, Serhiy Adamenko. In addition, written explanations were demanded from top management of Russia's Sberbank.
