Goods exports from Ukraine grow to almost US$27 bln in seven months

The EU was Ukraine's largest trading partner over the period under review.

Exports of goods from Ukraine in January-July 2018 increased by 12.7% year-over-year, to $26.9 billion.

Ukrainian exports have been growing for 19 months in a row, the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has said.

Exports of farm produce and food amounted to US$9.8 billion, which was 0.6% down on the same period in 2017, while shipments of steel and metalware were estimated at US$7.2 billion, which was 30.1% up year-over-year. Exports of engineering products grew by 14.9%, to US$3.2 billion.

Shipments of mineral products abroad amounted to US$2.5 billion, which was 7.4% more compared to the same period last year.

Exports of chemical products grew by 26.1%, to US$1.5 billion, shipments of timber and paper pulp increased by 29.5%, to US$1.2 billion.

Exports of various industrial goods worth US$852.9 million rose by 20.3%, while exports of light industry products worth US$716.7 million increased by 18.7%.

According to the ministry, farm produce and food accounted for the largest share of Ukrainian exports, or 36.4%, while the share of products of the metallurgical complex was 26.8%, that of mechanical engineering was 11.8% and mineral products was 9.1%.

"The European Union (EU) remains the largest trading partner of Ukraine. Exports of goods to the EU grew by 18.7% compared with the seven months of 2017, to about US$11.3 billion. At the same time, its share in total exports of goods from Ukraine in the seven months of 2018 was 42.1%. In addition to the EU, Ukraine saw an increase in sales of goods in the seven months of 2018 year-over-year to Russia (8% of total exports), Turkey (5.8%), India (5.2%), China (4.2%), Egypt (4.1%)," it said.
