Ukrainian regions post record yields in entire history of crop observations

The record yield is being observed in maize, sunflower, soybeans, and sugar beet crops.

A number of Ukrainian regions this year show record yields in the entire history of crop observations, said First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Maksym Martyniuk.

“Operational data on the harvest of late grains, which we receive from the regions, indicate that several regions are reaching the highest yield in the history of observations,” Martyniuk wrote on Facebook.

In particular, the historical maximum yield in maize harvesting is expected in Vinnytsia region, where the average yield is 93.6 c/ha; in Kyiv region with 83.6 c/ha, and Sumy region with 83.3 c/ha.

Also, there is a record yield of sunflower in Khmelnytsky (31 c/ha), Cherkasy (30.6 c/ha), and Vinnytsia (30.5 c/ha) regions.

In addition, this marketing year, soybean shows record-breaking yield in Zaporizhia (33 c/ha), Kherson (32.8 c/ha), and Khmelnytsky regions.

High yield is also reported for sugar beet in Vinnytsia (537 c/ha), Khmelnytsky (500 c/ha), and Kyiv (497 c/ha) regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the agrarian ministry confirmed the forecast of the grain harvest for 2018 at 63.1 million tonnes.

According to the State Statistics Service, the yield of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2017 decreased by 7.3% compared with 2016 and amounted to 61.3 million tonnes. According to the State Statistics Service, the harvest of sugar beet in 2017 amounted to 14.5 million tonnes with a yield of 465.5 c/ha.
