Economic growth in Ukraine accelerates to 3.8% in Q2 due to early harvest – World Bank

The effect will be leveled but by the end of the year. So the GDP growth will be 3.3% in 2018, not 3.5%, as was predicted by the bank.

Anastasia Holovach, an analyst at the World Bank's Ukraine office says the growth of Ukraine's GDP in the second quarter of 2018 (Q2) accelerated to 3.8% due to an abnormally early harvest.

"Economic growth in Ukraine in the first half of 2018 accelerated to 3.5%, which is higher than the initial expectations. This happened due to the fact that in the second quarter the economy grew by 3.8%, since the main nature of the growth was an abnormally early harvest. Therefore, we expect this effect will be to some extent leveled in the second half of the year, and the GDP growth will be 3.3% in 2018," she said Oct 5, presenting the economic outlook for Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in April, the World Bank said Ukraine's real GDP might grow by 3.5% in 2018, which corresponded to the previous forecasts, announced in October 2017.
