Ukraine's revenue from agriexports estimated at almost $12 bln in Jan-Aug

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva says Ukraine exported agricultural products worth US$11.5 billion in January-August of 2018, which was $65.6 million up year-over-year (y-o-y).

"Ukrainian agriexports rose by $65.6 million [in 2018] compared to the same period of 2017, to $11.5 billion. The indicators grew mainly due to the following commodity items: rapeseed, wheat, meat and offal of poultry, eggs, nuts, butter, chocolate, and other goods," the ministry's press service quotes Trofimtseva as saying on October 5.

According to the official, the top three staples of Ukrainian farm produce and food exports remain grain crops (36.6%), sunflower oils (25.1%), and oilseeds (9.4%).

Key buyers in the regional export structure are the Asian countries with a share of 43.6%, the European Union (31.4%), and the African countries (13.3%).

At the same time, over the period under review, exports of agricultural products to the Asian countries increased by $259.1 million to more than $5 billion y-o-y.

"It's important that India is at the lead of the key importers of our products with food products worth $1.3 billion that were supplied to its market. China ranked second ($698.8 million), while Egypt became third ($685.5 million)," she added.

In addition, the top five importers of Ukrainian products also include the Netherlands ($671.9 million) and Spain ($551.3 million).

As UNIAN reported earlier, total revenue from exports of Ukrainian agrarian products in 2017 rose by 16% to almost $18 billion.
