Ukraine, China agree to boost grain shipments

The parties also plan to sign a memorandum on new projects in November.

The State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) and its strategic partner, China National Complete Engineering Corporation (CCEC), have agreed to boost grain supplies to China.

"We've discussed the potential for the development of trade relations between our companies and agreed to increase the supplies and assortment of grain crops and processed products to our Chinese partner," the SFGCU's press service quoted Acting Chairman of the SFGCU Board Iryna Marchenko as saying on October 5.

At the same time, the Chinese side noted it was pleased with the positive dynamics of cooperation over the recent period, and it is set to further mutually beneficial cooperation with the SFGCU.

According to Marchenko, the Ukrainian corporation is also determined to preserve mutually beneficial partnership principles, as well sees prospects for expanding trade and implementing joint projects with CCEC.

The parties also discussed SFGCU managers' working visit to China in November this year. They scheduled a number of meetings with representatives of the Chinese state corporation and plan to sign a memorandum on expanding cooperation in the grain processing industry and implementing new joint projects, the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the SFGCU in the 2017-2018 MY (MY, July 2017-June 2018) doubled grain exports to China National Complete Engineering Corporation to more than 1 million tonnes.

The State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine is a vertically integrated company that performs the complete cycle of operations with cereals and processed products, ranging from production to exports. The SFGCU has 55 branches, with a total working capacity of 3.75 million tonnes of crops. In particular, the total capacity of handling exports via the Odesa and Mykolaiv seaports is about 2.5 million tonnes of grain cargo per year.
