The ratification will create the legal basis for obtaining the EUR 5 million funding for the projects as a financial instrument of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed off the law on ratification of the Agreement on the financing of the Danube Transnational Program.
The ratification of the Agreement will create legal grounds for receiving free of charge the EUR 5 million funding of projects under the Danube Transnational Program as a financial instrument of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region.
"The implementation of the Agreement will contribute to the fulfillment of the obligations defined by the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, as well as the socio-economic development of the Ukrainian part of the Danube Region, covering the Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia regions," the report said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in December 2017, Ukraine, Hungary, and the EU signed an Agreement on the financing of the Danube Transnational Program in the amount of EUR 5 million.

The projects will be financed in the following priority areas: increasing preparedness for environmental risk management in the Danube Region; boosting competitiveness for businesses and social innovation; promoting the sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and resources; increasing investment capability to resolve basic social issues.
On September 19, 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on ratification of the financing agreement for the Danube Transnational Program (No. 0196).
