Inflation in September slows down to 8.9% in annual terms – Ukraine statistics agency

The rise in prices compared to the previous month was at 1.9%.

Inflation in Ukraine in September 2018, compared with September 2017, amounted to 8.9%, slowing from 9% a month earlier, according to the State Statistics Service.

As reported on the agency's website, the rise in prices compared to the previous month was 1.9% after a zero increase in August against July.

Against December 2017, prices rose by 5.6%.

According to the State Statistics Service, the highest increase in prices in annual terms was recorded for road passenger transport (25.3%), fuel and oils (22.7%), eggs (22.2%), household maintenance services (22.2%), and bread (19.2%).

The decline in prices in annual terms was recorded for sugar (18.3%), fruit (12.8%), and vegetables (2.3%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data are provided excluding the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

UNIAN memo. Inflation in Ukraine in August 2018 in annual terms - compared with August 2017 - was at 9%, accelerating from 8.9% a month earlier.

The National Bank predicts inflation at the end of 2018 at 8.9%, which practically corresponds to the government forecast of 9%.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank expect inflation in Ukraine this year at 9% and 10%, respectively.
