Ukraine sees 11% decline in vehicle output in Jan-Sept

Ukraine saw an 11% decline in production of motor vehicles in January-September 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y).

At the same time, 550 units of motor vehicles were manufactured at Ukrainian factories in September alone, which was 33% down y-o-y, according to the Ukrautoprom Association.

In September, only Cherkasy bus plant and Chernihiv automobile plant saw an increase in production due to the effect of a low comparative base, which was 19% (43 units) and 31% (21 units), respectively, up y-o-y.

The Eurocar plant alone contributed to the passenger vehicles statistics in the domestic car industry, having produced 476 cars in September, which was 8% down y-o-y. In total, passenger cars output in Ukraine in September declined by 31% y-o-y.

Furthermore, a mere three trucks were produced in September, which was 95% down y-o-y, it said.

As Ukrautoprom claims, truck manufacturer AutoKrAZ, for unexplained reasons, has not provided statistics on truck output since August 2016.

Production of buses dropped by 3%, to 71 units, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the production of vehicles in Ukraine soared by 63.1% in 2017 from 2016, to 8,586 vehicles, according to Ukrautoprom.

The country's output of vehicles in 2016 fell by 36% against 2015, to 5,200 units, it said.

UNIAN memo. The largest manufacturers of cars and buses in Ukraine are UkrAVTO Corporation (Zaporizhia automobile building plant), Bogdan Corporation, Eurocar plant, and Etalon Corporation (Chernihiv and Boryspil automobile plants).
