CEO of Consulting Group A-95 Serhiy Kuyun says petrol prices at gas stations across Ukraine may decline by an average of UAH 1, or US$0.04, per liter as early as next week if a downward trend in global oil prices continues.

"There is good news. There was cautious optimism yesterday. It is already more confident today. We see that the price of crude oil is falling from $85 per barrel on October 10 to $81 as of today. Petrol prices are declining rapidly [in the world], and I forecast that next week, the price of petrol may go down. I think that at least by UAH 1 per liter. And this is the beginning. Petrol prices have been growing at the highest rates over the past month and a half, and they will also be bouncing back at an accelerated pace," he said at a press conference on October 12.

Kuyun says that the domestic market has synchronized with the new price realities and now everything depends on how the oil price continues to change.

The expert added that a significant reduction in the cost of diesel fuel is not expected. "Diesel fuel did not grow at such a pace, but if the trend of falling prices continues, I am sure that diesel prices will also be subject to price adjustment," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in the first ten days of October, the average prices of petrol rose by UAH 1 per liter. As of October 8, the price of A-92 petrol was set at UAH 31.72 (US$1.13) per litter, A-95 petrol at UAH 32.83 (US$1.17) per liter, A-95 'Premium' at UAH 33.88 (US$1.21) per litter, diesel fuel at UAH 30.84 (US$1.10) per liter, and diesel fuel 'Premium' at UAH 32.36 (US$1.16) per liter.

Prices at gas stations rose against the backdrop of a significant increase in global oil prices. According to Bloomberg, the world's largest oil traders do not rule out that the rise in oil prices may exceed $100 per barrel by the end of this year.
