Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin predicts that the first serious results of the EU scrapping roaming charges across the Bloc will be seen as early as 2019.

"We are very seriously talking about the abolition of roaming charges between the countries, and I even think that next year we may see the first serious results," Klimkin told journalists following a ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership in Luxembourg Monday, Oct 15.

At the same time, answering the clarifying question, Klimkin noted that "now it is necessary to understand what our operators could agree on."

"I think that we should understand very well how tariffs are formed. This is already a fact, and then how can we either eliminate roaming charges or significantly reduce them. Right now, there's a very serious discussion. There are issues over the position of some operators  and there are those with the implementation of EU legislation, but there is definitely some progress," said the minister.

According to Klimkin, it is necessary to understand how private companies are ready to compromise.
