Industrial output in Ukraine down 1.3%

The largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the production of electrical equipment (23.5%), textile production (11.1%), and woodworking industry (4.9%).

The decline in industrial output in Ukraine in September 2018 accelerated to 1.3% in annual terms from 0.5% a month earlier, without taking into account the calendar days effect, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Taking into account the calendar days effect, the decline in industrial output in September accelerated to 0.7% in annual terms from 0.5% a month earlier.

Compared with the previous month - August 2018 - industrial output in September, without taking into account the adjustment for the calendar days effect, increased by 1.7%, and with such adjustment it stayed the same.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest drop in annual terms was recorded in the production of electrical equipment (23.5%), textile production (11.1%), and woodworking industry (4.9%).

The highest growth in annual terms was recorded in the extraction of black and brown coal (13.2%), oil and natural gas (6.4%), and chemical industry (6.1%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data are given excluding the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as well as the occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial output in Ukraine fell by 0.5% in August in annual terms, after it showed an increase seven months in a row, since January 2018.

In 2017, Ukraine recorded a decline in industrial output at 0.1% after a 2.8% rise in 2016.
