Ukraine sees retail trade grow to US$23.5 bln in Jan-Sept

Retail turnover increased most in Ukrainian-controlled districts in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as in Poltava, Zakarpattia, and Kyiv regions.

Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 5.5% in January-September 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y) in comparable prices, to UAH 659.661 billion (US$23.5 billion).

Ukraine's State Statistics Service has not provided statistics in monetary terms before.

Retail turnover increased most in Ukrainian-controlled districts in Luhansk and Donetsk regions (by 27.9%, to UAH 5.793 billion and by 13.7%, to UAH 20.23 billion, respectively), as well as in Poltava region (by 11.1%, to UAH 21.82 billion), Zakarpattia region (by 11.1%, to UAH 15.73 billion), and Kyiv region (by 10.1%, to UAH 47.75 billion).

Retail trade in September 2018 alone shrank by 0.5% against August 2018, while it grew by 6.9% from September 2017.

Retail outlets' trade in January-September 2018 was estimated at UAH 473.751 billion, or $16.9 billion, which was 5.2% up y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade in Ukraine increased by 8.8% in comparable prices in 2017 from 2016, to UAH 816.553 billion ($29 billion).
