Ukraine boosts construction works by 5.4% in Jan-Sept

Greenfield construction projects, renovation, and technical re-equipment over the period under review accounted for 74.9% of all construction works.

Ukrainian construction firms in January-September 2018 boosted construction works by 5.4% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 86.46 billion (US$3 billion).

The construction of buildings over the period under review fell by 0.3%, to UAH 41.88 billion ($1.5 billion). In particular, construction of residential buildings dropped by 1%, to UAH 20.31 billion ($723.3 million), while construction of commercial buildings was down by 0.4%, to UAH 21.57 billion ($768.2 million). Moreover, construction of engineering facilities grew by 11.7%, to UAH 44.58 billion ($1.6 billion), the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

Greenfield construction projects, renovation, and technical re-equipment over the period under review accounted for 74.9% of all construction works, while the share of overhauls and maintenance repairs was at 16.1% and 9%, respectively.

Construction firms in Kyiv alone reduced their operations to UAH 19.58 billion ($697.3 million), over the period under review, accounting for 22.6% of the total construction works across the country.

The State Statistics Service said the report did not include data from the temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as Russian-occupied Donbas in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's construction firms in 2017 boosted construction by 20.9% against 2016, to UAH 101.1 billion ($3.6 billion).
