Ukraine, U.S. to boost trade in agricultural produce

Bilateral trade issues were discussed at a meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Trade and Investment Council.

Ukraine's State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service says Ukraine and the United States plan to boost bilateral trade in agricultural produce, in particular, animal products.

"During the meeting, participants discussed bilateral trade, access to markets, in particular, Ukraine's requirements for imports of animal products, as well as progress in the approval of bilateral certificate forms," the Ukrainian agency's press service said on October 25, following a meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Trade and Investment Council.

In addition, the parties discussed legislative regulations for the market of plant protection chemicals, phytosanitary procedures for grain exports, the tax regime for rapeseed and soybean exports, possible measures to ensure the openness of the grain market, in particular, reducing its "gray" segment.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the U.S. mission assessed Ukraine's state poultry disease control system, which was approved in its official report.

In May 2018, the U.S. technical departments conducted a technical assessment of materials provided by the Ukrainian side on possible supplies of poultry meat to the United States on Ukraine's relevant application whose accreditation lasts for the past two years
