Ukraine's Cabinet publishes resolution to raise gas price for households by 23.5% from Nov 1

The resolution is valid until May 1, 2020.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has published a resolution to raise the gas price for households by 23.5% from November 1.

Relevant Resolution No. 867 of October 19, 2018, was published on the government portal.

"To approve the Regulation on imposing specific duties on natural gas market participants to meet general public interests in course of natural gas market performance… The resolution comes into force on November 1, 2018 and is valid until May 1, 2020," reads the document.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers will increase the gas price for households by 23.5%, to UAH 8,550 (US$302) per 1,000 cubic meters from November 1. According to the prime minister, the IMF initially demanded that the current price be increased by 60%.

Now gas prices for households are set at UAH 6,958, or $246, per 1,000 cubic meters. It is UAH 4,942, or $174, excluding VAT and transportation costs.

The issue of gas prices for households is a subject of talks between Ukraine and the IMF. The IMF earlier insisted that gas prices on the domestic market be adjusted (raised) to achieve parity with the price of imported gas.
