Ex-NBU head Gontareva becomes fellow at Institute of Global Affairs

Her first project on consulting top management of central banks worldwide is Tunisia.

Former Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva on October 1 became a member of the Institute of Global Affairs, which is part of the London School of Economics.

Speaking at the OTPTalks conference in Kyiv, she said she would advise central banks around the world on the topic of monetary policy. She is now working with Tunisian authorities amid the economic crisis that hit the country, Liga.net reported.

"Today I am going to Albania, where I'll speak at a conference on monetary policy," Gontareva said. "Tunisia is my first project so far."

She also announced she would be presenting her startup, Medikit, on November 19. In addition, Gontareva is preparing a project in the field of education; however, she did not disclose any details.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada in March of this year endorsed the proposal of President Petro Poroshenko to dismiss Valeriya Gontareva from the position of NBU Governor and appoint Yakiv Smolii, who had held the position of first deputy head of the NBU and was the central bank's acting governor from May 11, 2017.
