Ukrainian Army gets first BTR-4 APCs made of new Ukrainian armored steel (Photo)

Kharkiv-based Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, which is part of Ukraine's state-run military-industrial concern Ukroboronprom, has handed to the Army the first batch of seven BTR-4 armored personnel carriers (APCs) made of new Ukrainian armored steel.

"This special steel meets the highest international standards. The hulls for the BTR-4 are manufactured at Lozova Forging-Mechanical Plant. About 40 such hulls are currently in production," Ukroboronprom press service reported.

Ukroboronprom added that Lozova Forging-Mechanical Plant together with Kharkiv-based Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau and the Central Research Institute of Structural Materials "Prometey" had established the technology for the manufacture of hulls with the use of the special "Brand 71" steel.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early October, Ukroboronprom transferred to the Army 16 T-80 and T-64 main battle tanks, restored at the Kharkiv Armored Plant, as well as five new generation BTR-4 APCs, manufactured at the with Kharkiv-based Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau.
