Gas imported by Ukraine in the 12 months of 2017 was estimated at $3.23 billion.
Ukraine in January-August 2018 imported 6.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas totaling US$1.9 billion.
Over the period under review, companies registered in Switzerland delivered 2.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Ukraine to the tune of $744.4 million, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has said.
Ukraine bought 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas worth $645.9 million from Germany, 485 million cubic meters of gas worth $142 million from Poland, 390.6 million cubic meters of gas worth $108 million from the United Kingdom, 344 million cubic meters of gas worth $102.6 million from Hungary, 169.6 million cubic meters of gas worth $46.3 million from the Czech Republic.

Companies from Luxembourg supplied 100.4 million cubic meters of gas worth $29 million, Slovakia sold Ukraine 89 million cubic meters of gas worth $24 million.
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine late in November 2015 stopped buying natural gas from Russia's Gazprom, which was its major gas supplier.
In total, imports of natural gas from Europe doubled in 2015 from 2014, to 10.3 billion cubic meters, while gas shipments from Russia more than halved.
In 2016, Ukraine imported 11.1 billion cubic meters of gas from the EU alone, gas purchases in 2017 were 13.9 billion cubic meters. The total cost of imported gas last year amounted to $3.228 billion.
