Infrastructure ministry initiates bill to grant Ukrposhta exclusive right to deliver parcels under 10 kg

The Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry has initiated a draft law on amending Law of Ukraine "On Postal Service," to grant Ukraine's state-owned postal services provider Ukrposhta an exclusive right to deliver letters under 2 kg and parcels under 10 kg.

The corresponding bill has been published on the ministry's website.

According to the document, universal postal services include sending mailed items weighing up to 2 kg, parcels – up to 10 kg, mails for the blind weighing up to 7 kg, as well as registered mailings and those with declared value.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in August, the National Commission for Communications Regulation (NCCR) approved a two-stage increase in tariffs for postal services in 2018-2019.

UNIAN memo. Ukrposhta is the national operator of postal services under the authority of the Infrastructure Ministry. The company offers more than 50 types of services through over 11,000 offices across Ukraine. The company employs nearly 76,000 people.

The NCCR approves the list of universal postal services provided by the company and their tariffs, as well the exclusive right to publish, introduce and distribute postage stamps, pre-stamped envelopes and cards, as well as their withdrawal from circulation in Ukraine.
