Ukrainian farmers thresh 60.7 tonnes of grains as of Nov 5

Ukrainian farmers harvested 60.7 million tonnes of grain crops from an area of 13.7 million hectares, or 92% of the forecast, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.

The average yield was 4.43 tonnes per hectare, the report says.

In particular, 34.3 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops was harvested from an area of 9.9 million hectares with a yield of 3.48 tonnes per hectare, and 5.6 million tonnes of maize from 3.5 million hectares, or 77% of the target, with a yield of 7.24 tonnes per hectare.

Farmers also harvested 134,000 tonnes of buckwheat from an area of 106,000 hectares, or 98% of the target, with a yield of 1.26 tonnes per hectare; and 78,000 tonnes of millet from 50,000 hectares (96% of the target), with a yield of 1.55  tonnes per hectare.

In addition, 13.2 million tonnes of sunflower sunflower was threshed from an area of 5.9 million hectares (98% of the target) with a yield of 2.24  tonnes per hectare. Farmers also gathered 4.2 million tonnes of soybeans from 1.6 million hectares (96% of the target) with a yield of 2.55  tonnes per hectare; and 2.7 million tonnes of rapeseed from 1 million hectares with a yield of 2.61 tonnes per hectare.

Sugar beets output totaled 11.2 million tonnes from 231,000 hectares, or 83% of the target, with a yield of 48.8 tonnes per hectare.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry raised its forecast for this year's grain harvest to 64 million tonnes.

According to the State Statistics Service, the yield of grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2017 decreased by 7.3% compared with 2016 and amounted to 61.3 million tonnes.
