Ukraine, Israel could sign FTA deal as early as late Nov – PM Groysman

Israel will become the 46th country with which Ukraine will maintain free trade relations.

Ukraine and Israel are planning to sign a free trade agreement in late November, the Ukrainian Government press service reported Tuesday following a Kyiv meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and Israeli Ambassador Joel Lion.

“We're having an effective political dialogue. And definitely, we should note our achievements in the economy. A little over a year ago, we intensified our work on the preparation and signing of the Free Trade Agreement. And I am glad that the agreement will be signed in late November. It will open up new opportunities for trade between our countries,” said Groysman.

The prime minister drew attention to the fact that the deal would be beneficial for both sides, since the negotiation process allowed the two countries to find the most acceptable development formula.

In turn, Lion noted that the economy is in fact of great importance in relations between the two states, while the free trade agreement will help the end consumer, since it will enhance competition.

He also said that in the last decade of November, a Ukrainian-Israeli innovation summit will be held in Kyiv, which will bring together dozens of enterprises working in the field of innovation.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 28, Ukraine and Israel concluded negotiations on the creation of a free trade area. A plan for further signing of the agreement was also approved, including legal verification of the text and its submission to the relevant government agencies of both countries.
