Inflation in Ukraine accelerates to 9.5% in annual terms in Oct

The rise in prices against the previous month was 1.7%.

Inflation in Ukraine in October 2018 in annual terms, compared to October 2017, was at 9.5%, accelerating from 8.9% in similar terms a month earlier, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The rise in prices month-on-month in October amounted to 1.7%, after rising 1.9% in September against August.

Compared to December 2017, prices rose by 7.4%.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest increase in prices in annual terms was recorded for road passenger transport (27%), fuel and motor oils (24.5%), maintenance of houses and adjacent  territories (23.4%), bread (20.6%), as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (16.9%).

The decline in prices in annual terms was recorded for sugar (15.6%) and fruit (12.8%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data are given excluding the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in September 2018 in annual terms stood at 8.9%, slowing from 9% a month earlier.

The National Bank predicts inflation at the end of 2018 at 10.1%, while the government suggests it will be 9%.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank expect inflation in Ukraine this year at 9% and 10%, respectively.
