The National Bank of Ukraine is considering withdrawing one and two kopiyka coins from circulation, the Director of the Department of Monetary Circulation of the NBU Viktor Zaivenko told reporters on Wednesday.
"A working group is considering the issue of the possible withdrawal of small coins from circulation,” he said.
“For example, we have [drawn up] the relevant documents and [done] calculations on the withdrawal of the one and two kopiyka coins.
"But this is not a simple issue, and it's connected with the work of other ministries and departments. We will make further announcements after a decision is approved.”
