Industrial output in Ukraine grows by 1.4 % in Oct

Coal extraction demonstrated the highest growth in October 2018.

Industrial production in Ukraine grew by 1.4% in October 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y) without taking into account the adjustment for the effect of calendar days, after a 1.3% fall in September 2018 y-o-y.

The growth in industrial output in October 2018, taking into account the adjustment to the effect of calendar days, accelerated to 0.3% y-o-y after a 0.7% decline in September 2018 y-o-y, the Ukrainian State Statistics Service said on its website.

Industrial production grew by 10% in October 2018 from September 2018, without taking into account the adjustment to the effect of calendar days, while rose by 0.6% with such adjustment.

The highest industrial production increase in October 2018 y-o-y was recorded in the extraction of hard and brown coal (by 14.2%), manufacture of furniture and other commodities (by 12.2%), and the pharmaceuticals industry (by 12.1%).

The steepest decline in annual terms was recorded in production of electrical equipment (by 27.6%), production of computers, electronic and optical equipment (by 11.9%), and the textile industry (by 5.9%).

The State Statistics Service said the report did not include data from the temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as Russian-occupied Donbas in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's industrial production in September 2018 accelerated to 1.3% y-o-y without taking into account the adjustment for the effect of calendar days from 0.5% in August 2018.

In 2017, Ukraine saw a 0.1% decline in industrial production after a 2.8% increase in 2016.
