The relevant amendments to the Tax Code were backed by 236 MPs with the required minimum of 226 votes, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"The law provides for an increase in the excise tax rate on tobacco products by 9%, or by a projected inflation rate, from July 1, 2019," the explanatory note reads.
The amendments also envisage an increase in the rate of environmental tax for carbon dioxide emissions from stationary sources from UAH 0.41 to UAH 10 per tonne from January 1, 2019. This rate is to gradually increase further to UAH 30 per tonne until 2023.
