Russia's ruble drops against background of Russian aggression in Kerch Strait

At the opening of trade on the Moscow Stock Exchange on Monday, September 10, the ruble exchange rate dropped against the dollar and the euro against the background of Russia's aggression in the Kerch Strait.

By the end of the first hour of trading, the euro rate on the Moscow Stock Exchange grew by more than 60 kopecks, reaching a peak of RUB 75.65. At the same time, the dollar rate rose to RUB 66.61, which was 41.5 kopecks up against the rate set by the close of the previous trade, the Russian news agency RBC reported.

The main stock indexes of the Moscow Stock Exchange on the morning of November 26 are falling. The Stock Exchange index at its minimum reached 2,284.3 points, which was 2.5% down against the rate set by the close of the previous trade. The index has dropped below 2,300 points for the first time since October 30.

As UNIAN reported earlier, On Sunday morning, Russia blocked the Kerch Strait passage between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Two small-sized armored artillery boats, the 'Berdiansk' and the 'Nikopol,' together with the 'Yany Kapu' tugboat – all belonging to Ukraine's Navy – were unable to cross the Kerch Strait. They were moving from the port of Odesa in the Black Sea to the port of Mariupol in the Sea of Azov. Later all the three boats with 23 people on board were captured by Russia's special forces on Sunday evening. Six Ukrainian navy men were reportedly wounded; two of them were in serious condition.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine at its meeting decided to propose introduction of martial law in Ukraine for 60 days to create conditions for repelling armed aggression.
