Ukraine reports almost $32 bln in FDI in Jan-Sept

The greatest boost of investment was recorded coming from Germany.

The volume of foreign direct investment in the Ukrainian economy (non-residents' equity capital) in January-September 2018 increased by $367.2 billion, or by 1.2%, to $31.974 billion as of October 1.

Over the period under review, $1.710 billion in new investment was received, while $491.5 million was dropped. The negative revaluation stood at $851.7 million, according to the State Statistics Service.

The greatest boost of investment was recorded coming from Germany ($141.8 million), UK ($103.5 million), the Netherlands ($57.7 million), Poland ($41.5 million), and Hungary ($33.7 million). The largest volume of investments was directed to industry ($145.2 million), financial and insurance activities ($125.1 million), and information and telecommunications ($90.8 million).

The State Statistics Service said the report did not include data from the temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as Russian-occupied Donbas in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, foreign direct investment in Ukraine's economy in 2017 totaled $1.871 billion, with the largest share of investment from Cyprus, the State Statistics Service said.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) estimated foreign direct investment in Ukraine's economy in 2017 at $2.307 billion. The amount without taking into account banks' conversion of debt into charter capital was $1.8 billion.
