Ukraine's Okean shipyard sold for US$4.3 mln

The starting price was $41.1 million.

Assets of PJSC Mykolaiv Shipyard Okean (Ocean) located in Ukraine's southern city of Mykolaiv were sold at an auction on Monday, December 3, to Annona Trading House LTD for UAH 122.195 million, or US$4.3 million, according to Liquidator of the shipyard Iryna Serbin.

Initially, the starting price of the enterprise was UAH 1.8 billion ($63.8 million). But after several failed auctions, it dropped to UAH 1.16 billion ($41.1 million). Monday's trading took place with a decrease in the initial cost.

UNIAN memo. PJSC Mykolaiv Shipyard Okean (Ocean) was founded in 1951. The enterprise is engaged in production and repair of container carriers, tankers, tugboats, and barges with a displacement of up to 350,000 tonnes. The shipyard is located in the southern part of the city on the left bank of the Pivdennyi Buh (the Southern Buh) river with open access to the Black Sea. During its 60-year history, the shipyard built more than 400 technically complex vessels with a total deadweight of over 4 million tonnes.

The enterprise has been in a difficult financial situation since 2012. On November 1, 2013, the Economic Court of Mykolaiv region ruled that the Ocean shipyard was bankrupt and initiated the liquidation procedure.
