"Considering the preliminary feasibility study developed for Bila Tserkva's airport by independent international consultants under the European Commission's program for Ukraine, the infrastructure ministry asked the EBRD and IFC to consider the possible financing of the project," the ministry's press service said in a statement on December 6.

According to Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Viktor Dovhan, experts from the European Union are now helping Ukraine to develop the pilot project under the EU Technical Assistance Program, the press service added.

In general, the ministry is initiating a wide range of projects for the development of the country's infrastructure both at the national and regional levels. In particular, this includes the implementation of the first stage of Velyka Okruzhna Doroha ("Grand Ring Road") around Kyiv, the completion of major reconstruction of the Kyiv-Bila Tserkva highway and the start of reconstruction of the road between Kyiv and Chernihiv.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the infrastructure ministry in February announced its plans to create Bila Tserkva International Airport with multimodal infrastructure for freight and passenger traffic by 2020, as well as to ensure the development of a modern center for aircraft maintenance and repairs.

The ministry's experts then estimated the project at EUR 52 million to be implemented within 2018-2020.
