Inflation in Ukraine in November accelerates to 10% y-o-y

Inflation in Ukraine in November 2018 year-over-year accelerated to 10% against 9.5% in October 2018.

At the same time, inflation in November 2018 compared to October 2018 slowed to 1.4% against 1.7% in October 2018 compared to September 2018, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has said.

Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices have grown by 8.9%, it said.

The highest increase was recorded in passenger transportation by road (by 29%), while tariffs on maintenance of houses and adjacent areas increased by 23.2%, prices of natural gas grew by 22.9%, those of bread by 21.8%, and fuel and oils by 19%.

Meanwhile, prices of fruit declined by 14.8% year-over-year, whose of sugar dropped by 11.8% and eggs by 2.3%.

The State Statistics Service said that core inflation in Ukraine in November 2018 was 8.9% year-over-year, while it was 1.1% from October 2018 and 8.1% from December 2017.

The report does not include information from Russian-occupied areas, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in October 2018 was 9.5% year-over-year, against 8.9% in September 2018 year-over-year.

The National Bank of Ukraine forecasts inflation may hit 10.1% by the end of 2018, while the government's forecast is set at 9%.
