The Republic of Uzbekistan, the major importer of Ukrainian sugar, has resumed sugar imports from Ukraine and resumed customs clearance of other Ukrainian goods.

"Today we've received confirmation from sugar refineries and companies that the customs clearance has resumed. We hope for further 'warming' of our trade relations, because, even given all difficulties, sugar exports to Uzbekistan accounted for 47% of the total sugar exports in November alone," Deputy Chairman of the Board at the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (NASU) "Ukrtsukor," Ruslana Butylo, said on December 11, as reported by the Association's press service.

In mid-November, Uzbekistan suspended customs clearance of sugar and other cargoes coming from Ukraine. In this regard, the Association appealed to Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry, as well as the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine with a request to settle the situation.
