Ukraine boasts record high rye exports

Ukraine has increased rye exports by more than one and a half times since the beginning of the 2018-2019 marketing year (MG, July 2018 - June 2019), to a record 62,500 tonnes.

"Over four months of 2018-2019 MY, rye exports from Ukraine have amounted to 62,500 tonnes, which is the maximum volume for this period. For comparison, 38,200 tonnes of rye were exported from Ukraine for the whole 2017-2018 MY," the press service of the UkrAgroConsult consulting agency reported.

At the same time, experts noted Ukrainian farmers exported 14,700 tonnes of rye in October of the current marketing year, which is 45.5% less than in the previous month and twice as much as in October last year.

It is noted the main importer of Ukrainian rye is the European Union, which accounts for more than 68% of total exports. Thus, over four months of 2018-2019 MY, EU countries have imported 42,500 tonnes of rye, which is almost twice the volume for the same period of the last marketing year.

According to experts, Israel also remains a stable market, which has imported 2,900 tonnes in the current season. In addition, Ukrainian exporters have begun developing new markets in the current marketing year, such as Libya and the Philippines.
