Food prices not to increase in Ukraine before spring 2019 – economist

Producers usually revise prices in February-March, the expert said.

Ukrainian economist Yevhen Oleynikov says Ukrainians should not be worried about an increase in food prices before the spring of 2019 and stores will be selling products at December prices after the New Year holidays.

"In January, retail stores have the previous year's remnants. That is, in fact, retailers are analyzing what and how it was sold in terms of turnover and profitability, and accordingly, they form orders for new supplies of their stores," the expert said, as reported by the Ukrainian online news outlet Obozrevatel on December 16.

Oleynikov added that producers usually revise prices in February-March.

"At first producers, and then distributors and retailers, begin price revision in February after they have calculated everything and assessed the latest changes to the tax legislation and their effect," the economist summed up.
