Capital investment in Ukraine's agrarian sector estimated at US$2.2 bln in Jan-Sept

Over 45 billion ($1.6 billion) was injected directly into agriculture.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olena Kovaliova says capital investment in the country's agrarian sector in January-September 2018 were estimated at UAH 60 billion (US$2.2 billion).

"The investment over the nine months of this year was striking, according to the State Statistics Service. In general, capital investment in the agro-industrial complex, agriculture, and processing industry amount to more than UAH 60 billion," she told a Kyiv press conference Dec 19.

Kovaliova specified that over 45 billion ($1.6 billion) was injected directly into agriculture. Thus, half of these funds was channeled into projects in the livestock sector, namely for the construction of cattle farms. In addition, a significant part of investment was allocated for the projects in the field of pig farming.

The official also noted that the majority of investment in the crop production sector is injected into the construction of elevators and storage facilities.

In addition, Ukraine in 2018 considerably increased investment in the food and processing industry. Thus, investment in the production of baby food and dairy industry soared by 80%, to UAH 15 billion ($538.6 million).

As UNIAN reported earlier, capital investment in Ukraine's agrarian sector in 2017 grew by almost 30.7% against 2016, to UAH 75.7 billion (2.7 billion).
