Russia estimates ban on Ukrainian products imports at US$510 mln

The Russian Economic Development Ministry says imports of Ukrainian products subject to additional ban imposed by the Russian Federation in 2018 are estimated at about US$510 million.

"The import of sanctions goods (additionally prohibited in 2018) from Ukraine to Russia will total about $510 million in 2018, according to preliminary estimates," the Russian news agency TASS reported, referring to the ministry's press service.

Overall commodity imports from Ukraine to Russia stood at $4.912 billion in 2017, the report said.

"Shipments of the goods (newly banned in 2018) from Ukraine to Russia were worth $468.9 million in 2017," the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Russia banned imports of industrial goods, agricultural products and foodstuffs from Ukraine on Saturday, December 29.

At the same time, the Russian government may decide to abolish the special economic measures introduced, if Ukraine lifts the restrictive measures earlier imposed on certain Russian goods, the Russian government's press service said.
