UNIAN memo. In December 2015, Russia adopted a number of decisions that limit, and in some segments completely abolish, trade relations with Ukraine.

Among such decisions is the suspension by Russia of the Treaty on the Free Trade Zone in relation to Ukraine within the CIS.

Restrictive measures entered into force on January 1, 2016. On January 2, Ukraine introduced mirror trade measures, namely, 1.5% to 19% import duties on a wide range of Russian goods and product. Part of the duties has a transition period of 3-5 years.

Since January 1, 2016, Russia has completely banned the transit of Ukrainian exports via the Russian territory.
