The FTA with the EU has received new powerful impetus due to the PEM Convention.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says that trade between Ukraine and the European Union grew by 40% in the past three years after the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (FTA) was launched.
"During the period of the FTA, our trade with the European Union increased by 40%. The EU's share in exports of Ukrainian products has reached a historic maximum of 42.5%. The structure of Ukrainian exports has shifted qualitatively to value added products, which accounted for 43% of exports to the EU," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook on January 2.
He says free trade with the European Union has pushed for the completion of FTA negotiations with other major trading powers of the world, such as Canada, Israel, Turkey.

From January 1 this year, the FTA with the EU has received new powerful impetus due to the use of the Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin (PEM Convention), the president said.
"Our next priorities in the development of trade with the EU are strengthened customs cooperation, the conclusion of an agreement on conformity assessment and acceptance of industrial products, the adaptation of legislation in the field of sanitary and biosecurity measures," he added.
