Ukraine may get US$2.6 bln in two disbursements from IMF in 2019

The first disbursement amounted to US$1.4 billion in December 2018.

Ukraine may get US$2.6 billion in two more disbursements under a new 14-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The first disbursement worth US$1.4 billion under the SBA arrived on December 21, 2018.

As the IMF said on its website on January 8, the second disbursement worth 0.9 billion special drawing rights (SDR), equivalent to US$1.3 billion, is possible following the completion of the first review based on end-March 2019 performance on May 15. The third disbursement in the same amount is expected after the completion of the second review based on end-September 2019 performance on November 15.

As UNIAN reported, the IMF Executive Board on December 18, 2018, approved a new 14-month SBA worth US$3.9 billion for Ukraine. The Memorandum on Economic and Financial Policies under this program was made public on January 8. The structural benchmarks of the program include the approval of the so-called split law, a report on the return of assets of state-owned banks, the reorganization of the State Fiscal Service (SFS), the appointment of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court, bank recapitalization, the completion of an external audit of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine, and other provisions.
