Over 13 bcm of gas left in Ukrainian stocks

Natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities from the beginning of the selection period (November 7, 2018) decreased by 22.7%, or 3.9 billion cubic meters, down to 13.285 billion cubic meters, the Ukrainian gas transmission system operator, the state-owned Ukrtransgaz, reported.

As of January 7, gas reserves in USFs are 7.9% lower than on the same date in 2018 (14.418 bcm), the operator says.

In particular, on January 7, some 91.95 million cubic meters of gas was pumped from storage.

Ukrainian USFs are 42% full.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 7, 2018, Ukraine stopped pumping gas into USFs and began its selection for the heating season.

By the heating season start, Ukraine had accumulated in its USFs some 17.2 bcm of gas, which is a record figure over the past six years.

UNIAN memo. Ukrtransgaz operates 12 underground gas storage facilities with a total active capacity of about 31 bcm. USFs are an integral part of the gas supply and gas transit systems.

The company operates gas pipelines used to transmit natural gas from Russia to the EU countries, and also to have it imported from the EU. All shares of Ukrtransgaz belong to Naftogaz of Ukraine.
