Inflation in Ukraine in December 2018 slows to 9.8%

The report excludes data from Russian-occupied Crimea with Sevastopol, as well as occupied areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Inflation in Ukraine in December 2018 in annual terms – compared to December 2017 – stood at 9.8%, slowing from 13.7% in December 2017 year-over-year.

Prices in December 2018 from November 2018 rose by 0.8% after an increase by 1.4% in November 2018 compared to October 2018, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

The highest increase in annual terms was recorded in tariffs on passenger transportation by road (by 30.3%), in prices of vegetables (by 27.8%), tariffs on the maintenance of residential houses and nearby area (by 23.7%), prices of natural gas (by 22.9%) and those of bread (by 21.5%).

The prices of the following products declined in annual terms: those of fruits by 17%, eggs by 9.5%, sugar by 9.3%.

Core inflation in Ukraine in December 2018 was 8.7% in annual terms and 0.6% compared to the previous month.

The State Statistics Service says that the report excludes data from Russian-occupied Crimea with Sevastopol, as well as occupied areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported, inflation in December 2017 accelerated to 13.7% compared to December 2016 from 12.4% in December 2016 compared to December 2015.
