This is due to growing incomes of Ukrainian migrant workers amid growing economies in countries where they travel to get jobs.
The National Bank does not expect a significant increase in the number of labor migrants from Ukraine in 2019, at the same time suggesting a slight increase in remittances, that's according to a director of NBU's monetary policy and economic analysis department Serhiy Mykolaichuk.
“We expect that there will be no significant increase in the number of labor migrant; the number of people working abroad will remain approximately at the level of 2018,” he said.
At the same time, Mykolaichuk noted that the National Bank predicted a slight increase in the volume of remittances coming from labor migrants in 2019.

“It is rather due to the fact that the economies of the countries where Ukrainians work will be growing and, accordingly, their incomes will grow as well,” the official explained.
As UNIAN reported earlier, labor migrants in January-July 2018 transferred to Ukraine a total of $6.3 billion.
Data for the entire year of 2018 have not yet been made public.
In 2017, the volume of private remittances to Ukraine amounted to $9.3 billion, which is 24% higher than the figure for 2016.
