Turkey extends quotas for livestock, meat supplies from Ukraine

Ukrainian producers in April 2018 obtained the right to export beef onto the Turkish market.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andrii Sybiha says Turkey has extended quotas on imports of cattle, goats, sheep, and meat from Ukraine with zero customs rates until the end of 2019.

"We urge domestic producers to use the Turkish side's decision to prolong the duty-free quota until December 31, 2019, for supplies by third countries of live animals and meat onto the Turkish Republic's market," Sybiha wrote on Twitter on January 11.

According to the document posted by the ambassador, 500,000 head of cattle, 475,000 head of sheep and goats, 75,000 tonnes of fresh and chilled beef meat, as well as 20,000 tonnes of [beef] compensated quarters could be supplied within the quotas at a zero tariff rate.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian producers in April 2018 obtained the right to export beef to Turkey. The same year, Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry announced its plans to increase the Ukraine-Turkey annual trade turnover to US$10 billion.
